Building practical abilities, encouraging everyday independence

The Individual Skills Training Program is a goal-oriented learning program designed to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) strengthen specific life skills, functional abilities, and personal development based on their unique needs and goals. Available to eligible children, adults, and older adults residing with their families in the Borough of Queens, the program provides individualized instruction that emphasizes practical, hands-on learning rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Using a person-centered model, the program focuses on helping individuals develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for greater independence in everyday community living. Each participant follows an individualized learning plan that supports skill acquisition, self-development, and progress toward meaningful personal goals.
